Trauma-Informed Practice in Everyday Interactions

A 6-hour professional development workshop

Many of us work with people who've experienced harm or adversity. We want to support them well. But without understanding how trauma shapes nervous systems, relationships and responses, we can inadvertently cause further harm, even with the best intentions.

This workshop is for anyone working in community services, disability, education or care who wants to understand trauma-informed practice not as theory, but as something that lives in small, everyday moments.

What You'll Explore

Over six hours, you'll work through:

  • Understanding what trauma-informed practice actually is and isn't

  • How stress and nervous system responses shape behaviour and regulation

  • Micro-moments of safety, how tone, timing, pacing and presence matter

  • Boundaries as relational, not rejection and why they're protective

  • Emotional labour and how to sustain yourself in caring work

  • Ethical tension the real conflicts that arise in practice, and how to navigate them

  • A personal action plan you'll take back to your work.
